While humans have long recognised the dietary and medicinal properties of honey, it’s only in recent years that scientific research has provided growing evidence of the significant health benefits that pure, natural honey can offer. At the same time, however, the level of toxic pollutants in our environment and food sources has increased significantly.
That’s where our honey is different … and better! Our native stingless honey bees, from the Meliponini family (lebah kelulut) gather nectar and pollen from fruit trees that we have lovingly and organically grown on the 120 acres that make up THE ORCHARD. They also feed on the Coral Vine (Antigonon leptopus), a tropical plant originally from Mexico, introduced by Dr. S. J. Jong (MBBS, PhD), founder of The Orchard Wellness and Health Resort. This plant is rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds that naturally enhance the quality of our honey.

When ancient peoples first discovered the health benefits of honey as both a natural food and traditional medicine, there were few if any environmental pollutants that could compromise its purity. Unfortunately, in today’s environment, many pollen-bearing plants are routinely sprayed with pesticides, crops are treated with chemicals, and many of our waterways carry industrial pollutants.
As a result, when honey bees forage for nectar and pollen, they may unintentionally absorb these contaminants and in turn, introduce them into the honey they produce. Even more concerning, some bee species use resin or fluids from animal waste or faeces to build their nests, a practice known as faecal spotting, used to deter hornet attacks. These impurities can further compromise the quality of the honey.
At THE ORCHARD, we offer a better solution. Our Rosensky® Honey is produced by stingless bees (lebah kelulut) that forage exclusively in our vast, certified organic orchard. We strictly follow the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) standards, which require that:
“Beehives must be made from organic materials and only exposed to organic environments and natural beekeeping techniques in the preparation of the honey.”
